What is a Suggestopedic Course like?

You will find the method of Suggestopedia quite unusual, all to your benefit – offering a wealth of practical knowledge, while engaging your imagination and provoking your creativity. The suggestopedic approach combines pedagogical, psychological and artistic methods. Based on an engaging story, the course leads you to develop and improve your own speaking abilities, involving you in creative challenges and role-playing.

The suggestopedic Bulgarian course takes place in a cosy, aesthetically arranged environment, where one is surrounded by Bulgarian art and visual language aids. Suggestopedic learning includes both active and passive phases, blending focused participation with relaxed absorption for a more effortless and effective experience. Stress-free learning, with no homework required.

The learning process follows cycles of 4 stages each:
Artistic Introduction – Through role-playing, the teacher creatively introduces the new topic(s), words, expressions, and grammar structures which form the focus of the new material.

Concert Session – The teacher reads the new text for the students twice. First, in artistic synchrony with classical music, using its rhythm and dynamics to create a recital that supports deep and effortless memorization. In the second part, the students hear the same text with natural intonation at normal speed, accompanied by gentle baroque music.

Development – we work with the new material to activate language knowledge and skills. Typical activities at this stage include expressive reading, supported by the teacher, oral translation, role-playing, grammar games, singing, and dancing.

Presentation – each student tells a short story on a topic already developed.

Role-playing is an integral part of the suggestopedic process. At the beginning of the program, students are invited to choose a name, a profession, and a country of origin as their new identity for the duration of the course. This approach has proven highly effective in helping students free themselves from limiting self-perceptions. Role-playing also makes the training process particularly enjoyable and engaging.

The textbook and other materials are aesthetically designed, which make them particularly pleasing to work with.

The suggestopedic course is an enjoyable learning experience to help you fly closer to your dream of communicating easily and confidently in Bulgarian.
